Details: This do-it-yourself class goes into depth on how to update, change and manipulate data in your maps for your drinking water and wastewater systems using QGIS and Mergin applications.
Required equipment each attendee needs for this course:
1. Computer (PC or Mac) with 64-bit Operating System, 16+ GB of RAM. 6+ GB graphics card
2. Tablet either Android or iPad with Bluetooth technology
3. Permission from your IT department to load software, applications and sign up for cloud-based services (in this case Mergin cloud-based data storage).
Attendees need to preload QGIS onto their designated computer and download the INPUT application onto their iPad or android tablet. Attendees can choose to use their iPhones or Android phones instead.
Notes: QGIS is a free/opensource geographic information system and will be the application of choice used in this course. Input is a free geo capturing application to capture attributes of assets being collected. Mergin is a free (limited) cloud-based data storage platform and a free account is required for the Input application to work properly.
You will learn the difference between Global Positioning Systems and Global Navigation Satellite Systems for collecting points and how to set up the GNSS receiver to sync with a phone or tablet.
You will learn how to collect, input and store your data using MERGIN cloud.
This is a hybrid class. You may attend in-person at the IRWA Technical Training Center, 6395 W Gowen Rd, Boise, ID 83709 or in the Virtual Classroom using Zoom - the Zoom link and instructions to join the class will be in your confirmation email.
