Details: This 6-hour course will focus on managerial and financial issues facing very small water systems in Idaho. Clerical staff, board members, and operators are all encouraged to attend. The morning session will focus on evaluating system needs and the clerk’s and board’s roles in meeting these needs. Attention will be given to laws governing public bodies while contrasting that to private nonprofit boards. After lunch, the focus will move to the oversight function of board in reviewing financial statements. Activities will be built around interpreting financial statements and using the information to better manage utilities.
