Details: This course is designed for newly elected and returning city council members, city management staff, and others involved in the planning and budgeting process. In the morning, discussion will center on board roles and responsibilities, Idaho Open Meeting Law, and ethics involved with being a city leader. Discussion will focus on how to maintain transparency, serve constituents, and run a more efficient city. The second half of the training revolves around reading and interpreting financial statements as part of the planning process. Discussion will center on using this financial information to inform city budgets and reserve policies.
