Details: Idaho wastewater operators and other water professionals are invited to attend. Each class in this series will provide current operational staff with complete knowledge of wastewater fundamentals. This class can help prep for the wastewater treatment examinations. The online wastewater school provides operators with a review of the current practice for each topic in wastewater treatment. This class introduces attendees to ammonia removal through biological nitrification. Topics include the organisms responsible for nitrification, stoichiometry, operating variables that impact nitrification (pH, alkalinity, DO, SRT), and the different unit processes (fixed films and activated sludge) used for nitrification. Attendees will learn how to select a target sludge age to maintain nitrification in activated sludge processes. This course includes several case studies and troubleshooting scenarios.
