Details: This class will teach the fundamentals of Ultra Violet (UV) Disinfection technology, including recent technological advances that improve its reliability and effectiveness, which should be considered when selecting a UV system. Appropriate applications for various UV system configurations will be discussed, and special focus will be given to proper operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the systems. Impacts of lamp aging, sleeve fouling and monitoring will also be discussed, as well as realistic factors for such that should be assumed during design. Lessons-learned compiled during UV audits conducted as part of a WRRF project 14-11 and samples of various UV equipment will be shared with participants to enhance learning. Harold Wright is Carollo’s chief technologist in UV disinfection with 28 years of extensive experience in UV disinfection and advanced disinfection processes, both with drinking water and wastewater, which includes fundamental research, technology development, regulations, performance testing, validation, and design. His work focuses on research and technology development with an emphasis on resolving process issues with water wastewater treatment, evaluating treatment technologies, and developing sizing models/software for water/wastewater unit processes. The course fee is $45 and lunch is on your own.
