Experts are predicting another extreme fire year for the West. With the increased risk for wildfires comes an increased possibility of smoke impacting burn day approvals. DEQ is recommending growers register early and be prepared to burn early in the season this year and/or prepare for alternate residue treatment options. The number of burn days available this summer/fall to burn crop residue could be limited again this year if wildfire smoke causes poor air quality in a burn area.
