Details: This class is being offered in partnership with the Pacific Northwest OSHA Education Center. Protect your most valuable asset; keep your workers safe! Every year wastewater and drinking water utility workers lose their lives on the job due to a lack of safety training. This class will teach operators how to work safely in confined spaces. This course covers the requirements of the OSHA Permit-Required Confined Space Standard. Course topics include safety and health hazards associated with confined space entry, and the evaluation, prevention, and abatement of these hazards. This course is designed for small employers or a designated representative (line supervisor or manager) with the responsibility to develop a permit-required confined space program. Upon course completion students will have a basic understanding of confined space hazards and how to evaluate and reduce hazards. Attendees will also gain an understanding of how to determine when a confined space is classified as a permit-required confined space and how to proceed when work within a permit-required confined space is necessary. Instructor: Van Howell, CSP, CIT, CHST. CEUs Earned: 0.7 DW/WW CEUs. Cost: $140 members / $245 non-members. Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST. Location: IRWA Technical Training Center 6395 W Gowen Rd.
