Details: This course will define the concept of “Power Factor”. Power factor refers to the relationship between active (useful power) and the apparent (total) power. This relationship is a measure of how effectively electricity is being used. Related terminology and understanding the utility’s power bill will be discussed. Equipment and strategies to reduce a utility’s power bill and thus save money will be explained. Electrical safety will also be briefly discussed. Instructors: Joe Barrington, retired Bureau Chief over Utilities in Carroll County, Maryland. CEUs Earned: 0.1 Drinking Water/Wastewater. Cost: Free to IRWA Members - Non-Members $40. Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM (MDT) - 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (PDT). Location: Online using Zoom platform. Registration is required for all participants.
